Poker is a card game in which players wager chips (representing money) into a pot in order to win the hand. A player who has the highest hand wins the pot. If two players have the same hand, the pot is split equally between them.<\/p>\n
Before any cards are dealt, a player designated by the rules of the poker variant being played places a number of chips into the pot. This is known as making a \u201cblind\u201d bet. The player to the left of this player must then match this bet or fold his hand.<\/p>\n
When it comes to poker, it is important not to be too predictable. While a good portion of poker is trying to figure out what your opponents have, it\u2019s also important to be able to make your own decisions without being too obvious. This means playing your strong value hands as straightforwardly as possible, letting them go to the flop and making it expensive for your opponents to call your bets with weak or marginal hands.<\/p>\n
This doesn\u2019t mean playing every single hand, of course. You still want to mix it up and try to play speculative hands that will have a big payout if they hit.
