A slot is a position in the DOM tree that contains a subset of the markup for the rest of the document. A slot can be named, and has attributes that control its appearance. A slot> element is part of the Web Components technology suite, and allows you to use a name attribute to create separate DOM trees for different components.

When a person plays a slot machine, they press a button to spin the reels and try to match symbols on paylines. A winning combination of symbols pays out a prize. Some slots feature a bonus game where players must guess a color or number and if they win, their winnings are doubled.
