For each round of betting, the player who made the initial bet will make a mandatory bet. If he doesn’t make the bet, he’ll lose the hand and the game will end. If the player is in the lead, the game ends and the all-in player is out. The winner of the round of betting depends on how many people remain in the game. If everyone has bet, the winner of the game is the person who’s made the largest bet at the end of the previous round.
A player with a hand of five cards, in two or more suits, wins the pot. Often, the lowest possible hand is a pair of jacks. In some games, the ace is treated as the lowest card. Those with a pair of aces are also considered to have the lowest possible hand. In these situations, the odd chip is awarded to the player with the best hand. While this is not the case in all games, it’s still worth remembering: the highest hand wins the pot.
